INCUBATE announces the summer startups

Sydney, Australia – The University of Sydney Union’s (USU) award winning university startup accelerator program, INCUBATE (, has announced the startup teams in their summer program. One startup, Vistr, has already received investment from Telstra-backed Muru-D Accelerator.

The six startups are working on a diverse range of ideas from bio-technology in regenerative medicine, a project management platform for the building industry, to personalised eyewear that you can keep track of with your phone.

INCUBATE is leading the way to help university entrepreneurs launch their startup businesses, understand their markets, develop first viable products and receive mentoring from leading entrepreneurs. INCUBATE had 16 startups go through the program ( in 2013.

The INCUBATE Team now includes In-House Mentor Shane Herft, an alumni of the INCUBATE Program who co-founded

“As an early stage startup, Australia’s startup ecosystem can be a hard slog with so many opportunities geared for later stage businesses. The INCUBATE program helps bridge this divide, providing some seed funding, experience and connections for entrepreneurs when they need it most.” Shane explains.

The startups receive free co-working space on campus at INCUBATE’s Startup Hub and a share of $40,000 equity-free funding to build and develop their business idea ready to present to potential investors and the media at Demo Day in March.

James Alexander, INCUBATE’s Program Manager says “we select the top entrepreneurs from across campus and help provide a path from university to their startup venture. We’re excited to see how they are received at our Summer 2014 Demo Day.”

INCUBATE is made possible by leading company partners including Google,, NICTA, Coca Cola Accelerator and ATP Innovations.
